Our 1-Year Genetic Health Promise
We stand behind the health, genetics, and temperament of every single puppy we raise. When you adopt from Pure Dachshund, you are bringing home a meticulously cared-for dog.
What Is Covered
Our comprehensive 1-year guarantee specifically covers life-altering genetic defects. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Severe congenital heart defects (diagnosed by a licensed cardiologist).
- Hereditary neurological disorders that severely impact quality of life.
- Genetic organ failure (liver, kidneys, etc.) present from birth.
If our veterinarian confirms a covered, fatal or severely life-altering genetic condition within the first year, we offer a replacement puppy from a future litter.
Pre-Adoption Protocol
Before your puppy ever goes home, they undergo a rigorous veterinary protocol:
- Comprehensive nose-to-tail examination by our partnered, licensed veterinarian.
- Age-appropriate core vaccinations (Distemper, Parvo, Adenovirus).
- Complete deworming protocol initiated at two weeks of age.
- Microchip implant for lifetime identification and safety.
Buyer's Responsibilities
To ensure this guarantee remains valid, the adopting family must agree to the following conditions:
- The puppy must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of arrival to confirm initial health.
- The puppy must be kept current on all core vaccinations, heartworm preventatives, and tick/flea medications.
- The buyer agrees to feed a premium quality diet to maintain a healthy weight—an absolute necessity for the Dachshund's elongated spine.
- If the buyer can no longer care for the dog at any point in its life, the dog must be returned to Pure Dachshund, no questions asked. The dog may not be surrendered to a shelter.
